What to expect
Simon and Gemma (the owners) live in an annexe adjoining the property and will usually be there to welcome you on arrival.
Shopping
If you plan to do a food shop when you arrive, there are supermarkets in nearby Newtown (Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi ), Machynlleth (Co-op) and Llanidloes (Co-op).Ā There is also a great local market in Machynlleth every Wednesday, where you can buy a range of local goods, a village shop in Llanbrynmair (3 miles) and a Spar in Carno (6 miles).
Tesco, Morrisons, the Co-op and Asda all do home deliveries to Cae Madog Barn if you want to plan ahead and arrange one to fit in with your arrival. Our full address and postcode is on the contact page.
Check-in / Check-out
Check-in is at 4.00pm and check-out is at 10.00am.
Parking
Outside there is parking for up to 5 cars. If you are likely to bring more vehicles, please let us know in advance.
WiFi & mobile signal
Superfast WiFi is available throughout the property. Most mobile networks do have a good signal here.
Facilities
Cae Madog Barn is well-equipped with things you will need during your stay. Bed linen is provided, but you do need to bring your own towels. Travel cots, stairgates and high chairs are all available ā please bring your own cot bedding with you.
The property has central heating throughout (heating and electricity is included in the price) and logs for the wood burning stove are provided.
Swimming Pool
This is what makes us a bit different from other large holiday properties in the area. When you stay at Cae Madog Barn you can enjoy exclusive use of your own fabulous outdoor heated swimming pool. So on days you donāt want to go anywhere, you can spend some time lying back and floating in the pool, simply taking in the breath-taking views of the Cambrian Mountains. You might even spot a red kite soaring overhead!
The pool heating is included in the booking cost from the first Friday in May until the end of August. It can be made available outside of these dates if you wish, dependent on weather conditions, with a surcharge of Ā£250 for heating for each week or part week. In summer the pool temperature is likely to reach 27 degrees, but please note that its temperature in colder months is unlikely to exceed 22 degrees. In very low ambientĀ temperatures, we reserve the right to make it unavailable.
Hot Tub
Perfect to sink into and relax all year round ā but especially on cooler evenings. It fits five people so you can sit back with a refreshing drink (nb. glass is not allowed in the hot tub cabin or around the pool but we provide plastic āglasses) and enjoy some spectacular star-gazing on a clear night.
Outdoors & Games Room
Unwind and relax in the peaceful and tranquil outdoor space at Cae Madog Barn. Sit on the decking and take in the views of the Twymyn – with lush, rolling hills surrounding you in every direction. Thereās a barbeque so you can dine al fresco on balmy, summer evenings. The perfect way to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life at home.
Thereās also a detached games room outside with a pool table. If youāre feeling competitive, challenge your friends and family to a mini-tournament during your stay. This is a favourite with all ages.
Pets
Pets are welcome by arrangement, just let us know at the time of booking. Please bring your own dog bed and food bowls. We do have a supply of dog poo bags if needed.
Eco- friendly
Cae Madog Barn is in a beautiful part of the world and we endeavour to do our part to keep it that way. So, our electricity is provided by a green energy company, we have a private water supply from a borehole and use air source heating for the swimming pool. We also encourage guests to do your bit too by taking any glass bottles to the recycling facilities at the local supermarkets.
Smoking
Please note: Smoking is not permitted in the cottage
