Guest InformationAll the details to help you plan your holiday in Wales
From check-in times to cleaning protocols, it’s all here.
What to expect
Simon and Gemma (the owners) live in an annexe adjoining the property and will be there to welcome you on arrival in usual times. Our risk assessment for COVID-19 is no contact, but once things are back to normal and restrictions are lifted, we look forward to meeting face to face again.
If you plan to do a food shop when you arrive, there are supermarkets in nearby Newtown (Tesco, Morrisons and a large Aldi coming soon), Machynlleth (Co-op) and Llanidloes (Co-op).
Tesco, Morrisons and ASDA all do home deliveries to Cae Madog barn if you want to plan ahead and arrange one to fit in with your arrival. Our full address and postcode is on the contact page.
We’re Good To Go
At Cae Madog Barn we take the safety of our guests (and ourselves) very seriously. Our cleaning, health and hygiene protocols and Covid risk-assessments meet international global standards, so you can book in confidence. We have been awarded Visit Britain’s Good To Go Stamp and The World Travel & Tourism Council’s Safe Travel Stamp. These are the official marks that signal a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
In addition to this, Gemma has completed two World Health Organisation courses on COVID awareness and protocols. The certificates are included in the guest information pack you will receive before you arrive (along with lots of other useful information).
Check-in / Check-out
Check-in is at 4.00pm and check-out is at 10.00am.
Outside there is parking for up to 5 cars. If you are likely to bring more vehicles, please let us know in advance.
WiFi & mobile signal
Superfast WiFi is available throughout the property. Most mobile networks do have a good signal here.
Cae Madog Barn is well-equipped with things you will need during your stay. Bed linen is provided, but you do need to bring your own towels. Travel cots, stairgates and high chairs are all available – please bring your own cot bedding with you.
The property has central heating throughout (heating and electricity is included in the price) and logs for the wood burning stove are provided.
This is what makes us a bit different from other large holiday properties in the area. When you stay at Cae Madog Barn you can enjoy exclusive use of your own fabulous outdoor heated swimming pool. So on days you don’t want to go anywhere, you can spend some time lying back and floating in the pool, simply taking in the breath-taking views of the Cambrian Mountains. You might even spot a red kite soaring overhead!
The pool heating is included in the booking cost from the first Friday in May until the end of August, and also for Easter week. It can be made available outside of these dates if you wish, dependent on weather conditions, a surcharge of £100 for heating will be applied for each week (or part week).
Perfect to sink into and relax all year round – but especially on cooler evenings. It fits five people so you can sit back with a refreshing drink (nb. glass is not allowed in the hot tub cabin or around the pool but we provide plastic ‘glasses) and enjoy some spectacular star-gazing on a clear night.
Outdoors & Games Room
Unwind and relax in the peaceful and tranquil outdoor space at Cae Madog Barn. Sit on the decking and take in the views of the Twymyn – with lush, rolling hills surrounding you in every direction. There’s a barbeque so you can dine al fresco on balmy, summer evenings. The perfect way to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life at home.
There’s also a detached games room outside with a pool table. If you’re feeling competitive, challenge your friends and family to a mini-tournament during your stay. This is a favourite with all ages.
Pets are welcome by arrangement, just let us know at the time of booking. Please bring your own dog bed and food bowls. We do have a supply of dog poo bags if needed.
Cae Madog Barn is in a beautiful part of the world and we endeavour to do our part to keep it that way. So, our electricity is provided by a green energy company, we have a private water supply from a borehole and use air source heating for the swimming pool. We also encourage guests to do your bit too by taking any glass bottles to the recycling facilities at the local supermarkets.
Please note: Smoking is not permitted in the cottage
